For example, if your speakers are rated at 50 watts RMS at 4 ohms, look for an amplifier that can deliver around 50-75 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms.
While it's possible to install a car amplifier yourself, it requires some technical knowledge, tools, and understanding of your vehicle's electrical system.
